What is the meaning of psalms 40:1-3? Psalms 40:1-3 is a report of the salvation of God. The psalmist was in a dire situation and He patiently waited on God. The Lord heard His cry and out of the joy of the Lord saving him from the mud, he writes this psalm.
It pleases the Lord when we do what the psalmist has done here in psalms 40:1-3. Many at times God delays to answer our prayer to see how long we can hold on to our faith in Him.
The greater the faith we have in God, the longer we will be willing to wait for His salvation. Also, the longer we wait for God’s salvation, the sweeter it will be once the Lord delivers.
The joy of the answer to our prayer will put a song of praise in our mouths. We will burst into dancing and remember no more the misery we were in.
There are many situations that cause us to wait patiently on God as the psalmist did in Psalm 40:1. These situations are usually a test from God though sometimes they may be a result of our own mistakes. Either way, God is merciful to help us whenever we call on Him and wait patiently for His salvation.
Regardless of the dire situation you are facing right now, the Lord has power to deliver you. All that is required of you is to hold on to your faith in God. Be patient and the Lord will deliver you as He delivered the psalmist in psalms 40:2.
God will lift you out of the mud and put a new song in your mouth. From your testimony of what God will do, many will fear the Lord and put their trust in Him.
When you feel like giving up, remember that it is not only your salvation you are fighting for but also the faith of those who know your struggle. Your victory will give them confidence in God and you will be rewarded for their increase in faith.
